Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Lê Hung started the match with the kick off. After 3 played minutes Mui Ne got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Hoa. 4 minutes into the match, Dien Bien's Lê Teo broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After a rather tough play, Mui Ne's Nguyễn Hieu Ngan got a free kick in the 5th minute. Lê Hung fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phan Lan having to interfere. Dien Bien's Bùi Lam got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dien Bien's Nguyễn Tấn Dũng played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lê Tan in the 16th minute of play. Trần Nam's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nguyễn Tấn Dũng read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. If Trần Nam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nguyễn Tấn Dũng showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lê Tan in the 31st minute of the match. With a little luck, Dien Bien's Nguyễn Tấn Dũng got control of the ball when Trần Nam tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 35 played minutes Dien Bien got a freekick which was hit by Huỳnh Tinh. Trần Nam could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Nguyễn Tấn Dũng made a huge save. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 43rd minute of the game. One of Mui Ne:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Dien Bien:s goal. In the 48th minute, Huỳnh Tinh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Trần Nam's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 49thth minute, Nguyễn Tấn Dũng skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After a defensive mix-up in Dien Bien's zone, Lê Tan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nguyễn Tấn Dũng came out of the goal and Lê Tan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match had gone on for 64 minutes, Lê Tan put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Nguyễn Tấn Dũng. In the 69th match minute, Mui Ne was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Quang Thanh to maneuver through the defense. Phan Lan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lê Hung, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. After a rather tough play, Dien Bien's Huỳnh Tinh got a free kick in the 73rd minute. After 81 played minutes Mui Ne got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Hoa. After recieving a nice pass, Dien Bien's Lê Teo tried to score from far away in the 82nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Võ Hoang kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. With a little luck, Mui Ne's Phan Lan got control of the ball when Bùi Lam tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 94th minute, Lê Hung got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Phan Lan was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 97th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Nguyễn Teo. In the 98th minute, Mui Ne's Nguyễn Hieu Ngan seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Nguyễn Hieu Ngan the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Mui Ne protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Nguyễn Hieu Ngan had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Mui Ne fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 98th minute. Penalty! In the 100th minute there was a penalty for Dien Bien. Lê Teo stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Phan Lan. 1-1. Mui Ne succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Dien Bien had controlled the match.
