Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Vung Tau's Lê Minh started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Bạc Liêu's zone, Huỳnh Dung stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nguyễn Khoi came out of the goal and Huỳnh Dung tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nguyễn Khoi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lê Minh's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. In the 5th minute Lê Minh shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Khoi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Vung Tau's Lê Minh in the 7th minute got a chance for a shot 7th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Bạc Liêu's goalie prevented a goal. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 12th minute of the game. One of Vung Tau:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Bạc Liêu:s goal. Nguyễn Hieu shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Huỳnh Dung scored 1-0 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nguyễn Khoi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Vung Tau's Nguyễn Dong played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lê Hoa in the 21st minute of play. 28 minutes into the match, Bạc Liêu's goal looked a bit too open when Lê Minh came free, but Nguyễn Khoi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nguyễn Dong showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Than, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. If Huỳnh Dung had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Lê Minh's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nguyễn Khoi was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. Huỳnh Dung recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bạc Liêu's Nguyễn Khoi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lê Minh in the 44th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Bạc Liêu's Nguyễn Duc got a free kick in the 46th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nguyễn Than stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tôn Dinh hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Lê Hoa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Nguyễn Dong made a huge save. Lê Hoa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Dong having to interfere. The supporters of Vung Tau booed when Bạc Liêu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lê Hoa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Huỳnh Dung received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Nguyễn Khoi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nguyễn Than in the 73rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nguyễn Dong prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Vung Tau's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lê Minh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bạc Liêu's Nguyễn Than got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Nguyễn Than came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Bạc Liêu fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nguyễn Than couldn't finish the play. In the 93rd minute Nguyễn Than shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Dong saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Bạc Liêu players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Vung Tau.
