Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Trần Thai got the match started through his kick off. Lưu Tuan Hoang's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 4thth minute, Phan Hung skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Trần Thai recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Viet Tri booed when Soc Trang was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Pham didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 14thth minute of the game Nguyễn Phu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Soc Trang's Phan Hung was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nguyễn Phu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Phan Hung tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 27th minute of the match Trần Nam sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Phan Hung skillfully saved the ball. Nguyễn Phu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Viet Tri's Nguyễn Phu got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nguyễn Phu struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Phan Hung didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Viet Tri. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lưu Tuan Hoang got free with Phan Hung in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Phan Hung made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Phu in the 48th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nguyễn Phu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Nguyễn Phu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phan Hung having to interfere. In the 59th minute Lưu Tuan Hoang shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Phan Hung saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Trần Thai had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 65 played minutes Soc Trang got a freekick which was hit by Trần Hoang. Nguyễn Pham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lê Mai having to interfere. Phan Hung showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Phu in the 78th minute of the match. Viet Tri's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Soc Trang the free kick. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
