In the 13th minute Vũ Hoai shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Phan Hung saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Alianz booed when Soc Trang was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Thanh Bình didn't get a good kick on the ball. 18 minutes into the match, Alianz's Nguyễn Liem sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Phan Hung narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Alianz fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Phan Hung came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by Alianz's Nguyễn Thanh Bình. But to his dismay, Nguyễn Thanh Bình quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Phạm Hoang made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trần Hoang in the 34th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Nguyễn Liem managed to get in a good position for a shot. Alianz's supporters rose to their feet, but Nguyễn Liem was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Phan Hung breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nguyễn Hieu kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Phạm Hoang showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Pham in the 46th minute of the match.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Trần Thai stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Vũ Hoai fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phan Hung having to interfere. Nguyễn Liem received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Phan Hung tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Đặng Hoai might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Phạm Hoang. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Phan Hung dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. But to his dismay, Vũ Hoai quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. The Alianz players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
