After 35 minutes, Nguyễn Minh mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the My Tho and the Bắc Giang players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind My Tho's goalkeeper Đặng Tấn Dũng, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After a rather tough play, My Tho's Lê Tong got a free kick in the 76th minute. Đinh Than recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Trần Nga stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nguyễn Lan's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. 89 minutes into the match, My Tho's goalkeeper Đặng Tấn Dũng had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Trần Ho. In the 90th match minute, My Tho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Hung to maneuver through the defense. Nguyễn Binh struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Đặng Tấn Dũng didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bắc Giang. An unexpected shot in the 95th minute by Trần Ho got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 96th minute, Nguyễn Lan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Trần Nga was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Bắc Giang were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing My Tho to leave the ground with a draw.
