Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Quang Ninh's Nguyễn Lan started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Trần Van Tai Em could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 4th minute of the match, but Nguyễn Phong made a huge save. When Lê Phuong fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Quang Ninh's protests and gave Lê Phuong a yellow card for diving instead. Lê Phuong kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. In the 9th minute there was a penalty for Quang Ninh. Phan Teo stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Đào Ho. 0-1. Trần Tấn Dũng fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Phong having to interfere. In the 18th minute, Son La's Trần Tấn Dũng dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. In the 21stth minute of the game Trần Tấn Dũng who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Quang Ninh's Nguyễn Phong was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nguyễn Lan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Đào Ho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. If Nguyễn Lan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Quang Ninh's Nguyễn Phong got control of the ball when Trần Van Tai Em tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nguyễn Phong took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trần Tấn Dũng, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 42nd minute, Nguyễn Hong Minh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
An unexpectedly hard shot by Trần Van Tai Em in the 51st minute of play forced Quang Ninh's goalkeeper Nguyễn Phong to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nguyễn Phong didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Trần Tấn Dũng went, in the 53rd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. 56 minutes into the game, Nguyễn Hung was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Quang Ninh's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Son La the free kick. The supporters of Son La booed when Quang Ninh was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Hung didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 59th minute, Trần Van Tai Em left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Son La fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Nguyễn Phong made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trần Van Tai Em in the 62nd minute of play. Trần Van Tai Em fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Phong having to interfere. After 73 minutes of play, Son La's Trần Van Tai Em made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nguyễn Phong was left in no man's land by his defense there! Son La's Đào Ho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Hung in the 82nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Quang Ninh's Lê Tho got a free kick in the 84th minute. Nguyễn Phong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Trần Tấn Dũng in the 85th minute of the match. Nguyễn Phong made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trần Tấn Dũng in the 87th minute of play. Đào Ho stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nguyễn Lan's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. Trần Van Tai Em fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Phong having to interfere.
