With his leg Phan Thien managed to avoid a goal in the 7thth minute, when Manchester Tran's Nguyễn Minh fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Trần Hung charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Trần Hung the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Manchester Tran booed when Dak Lak was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Trần Hung didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 9th minute, Nguyễn Minh left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Manchester Tran fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Trần Viet struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Phan Thien didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Manchester Tran. Phan Thien didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Trần Viet went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Nguyễn Thai made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Đoàn Quang in the 21st minute of play. Phan Thien showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Trần Viet in the 25th minute of the match. Dak Lak's Phan Thien played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trần Viet in the 26th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Dak Lak's zone, Trần Viet stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Phan Thien came out of the goal and Trần Viet tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nguyễn Minh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Phan Thien tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 34 minutes into the match, Trần Viet notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Dak Lak's Phan Thien. Phan Thien was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Phan Thien took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trần Viet, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Trần Viet fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phan Thien having to interfere. In the 47th minute Trần Viet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Phan Thien saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

Đoàn Quang might have been able to make a better finish in the 51st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nguyễn Thai. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Đoàn Quang ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 60th minute, Bùi Tấn Dũng got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nguyễn Minh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Phan Thien tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Đoàn Quang sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vũ Minh Phượng kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Trần Viet fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phan Thien having to interfere. If Nguyễn Minh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nguyễn Minh might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Phan Thien. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nguyễn Minh ran back to his position shaking his head. Đoàn Quang fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Thai having to interfere. Nguyễn Huynh Duc hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Dak Lak's Đoàn Quang got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
