Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Nguyễn Minh got the match started through his kick off. 6 minutes into the match, Vinh Long's goalkeeper Phạm Chung had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Trần Nghiêm-Minh. 7 minutes into the match, Vinh Long's goal looked a bit too open when Võ Minh came free, but Phạm Chung reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Trần Ho during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Vinh Long booed when Vinh was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Trần Ho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nguyễn Thuy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Minh in the 13th minute of play. Trần Nghiêm-Minh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Vinh Long booed when Vinh was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Huỳnh Thien didn't get a good kick on the ball. Đặng Cuc received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Nguyễn Thuy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nguyễn Thuy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Đặng Cuc, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. In the 27th minute, Nguyễn Minh made a precise shot to the right of Nguyễn Thuy. Vinh's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. If Võ Minh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Võ Minh in the 43rd minute of play forced Vinh Long's goalkeeper Phạm Chung to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 48 minutes, Trần Nghiêm-Minh made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Vinh Long's Phạm Chung tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot.
The wind increased when Võ Minh made the kick off in the second half. After 56 played minutes Vinh Long got a freekick which was hit by Lương Phong. 66 minutes into the match, Vinh Long's Nguyễn Minh sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nguyễn Thuy narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Hoàng Nam hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Vinh Long's Lê Nghiêm-Minh tried to score from far away in the 71st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Nguyễn Thuy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Minh in the 72nd minute of the match. Phạm Chung stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Trần Nghiêm-Minh's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. Vinh Long's Nguyễn Minh got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nguyễn Thuy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Minh in the 80th minute of play. Vinh's Nguyễn Thuy proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Vinh from getting a goal against them. If Trần Nghiêm-Minh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Đặng Cuc got free with Nguyễn Thuy in the 98th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Vinh fans cheered their team off the field, for while Vinh Long had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
