Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Võ Minh kicked off to start the match. Vinh's supporters rose to their feet, but Trần Nghiêm-Minh was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Phạm Hieu Ngan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nguyễn Duc was shown his second yellow card after 9 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of Vinh booed when Ronaldo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Duc didn't get a good kick on the ball. Trần Ho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Trần Nghiêm-Minh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phạm Hieu Ngan having to interfere. Nguyễn Minh's late challenge caught a Vinh's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nguyễn Minh helped the player get up and apologised. In the 24th match minute, Ronaldo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Minh to maneuver through the defense. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nguyễn Minh was the one to do the kick off. Phạm Hieu Ngan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hoàng Nam in the 53rd minute of play. Nguyễn Minh might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nguyễn Thuy. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nguyễn Minh ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lê Duy in the 56th minute of play forced Vinh's goalkeeper Nguyễn Thuy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Trần Nghiêm-Minh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phạm Hieu Ngan having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Vinh's Hoàng Nam got a free kick in the 66th minute. Thanks to some nice moves Nguyễn Minh could shoot a difficult shot in the 67th minute, which Nguyễn Thuy however easily saved by the left post. After having played for 68 minutes, Võ Minh managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vinh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Võ Minh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 70th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ronaldo's goalkeeper Phạm Hieu Ngan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 72 minutes into the match, Ronaldo's goal looked a bit too open when Hoàng Nam came free, but Phạm Hieu Ngan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 75 played minutes Ronaldo got a freekick which was hit by Lê Duy. After recieving a nice pass, Vinh's Hồ Hieu Ngan tried to score from far away in the 76th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Ronaldo's Lê Duy got a free kick in the 77th minute. After some careless play in the Ronaldo defense, Trần Nghiêm-Minh kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Phạm Hieu Ngan. The Ronaldo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Phạm Hieu Ngan should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Vinh getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Hồ Hieu Ngan hit a great ball. Vinh's Nguyễn Thuy proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Vinh from getting a goal against them. In the 95th play minute Lê Duy came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Nguyễn Thuy. 4-1. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Vinh fans cheered their team off the field, for while Ronaldo had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
