The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nguyễn Duc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 2nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Đặng Tong having to interfere. Đặng Tong took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Duc, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 5 played minutes Gia Nghia got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Tan. After a rather tough play, Son Tay's Huỳnh Quang Thanh got a free kick in the 11th minute. Nguyễn Van Tai Em received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Lê Bien tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Huỳnh Quang Thanh kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. If Nguyễn Duc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Trần Ho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Đặng Tong read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. After having played for 27 minutes, Ngô Khoi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gia Nghia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ngô Khoi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match clock showed 29 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Ngô Khoi sped through Son Tay's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Lê Bien. After a rather tough play, Son Tay's Trần Ho got a free kick in the 32nd minute. After a rather tough play, Son Tay's Nguyễn Duc got a free kick in the 42nd minute. When Huỳnh Tho fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Duy in the 52nd minute of play forced Gia Nghia's goalkeeper Đặng Tong to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Son Tay getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Nguyễn Van Tai Em hit a great ball. After 55 played minutes Son Tay got a freekick which was hit by Huỳnh Nhật Minh. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Ngô Khoi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gia Nghia's supporters rose to their feet, but Ngô Khoi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lê Bien breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nguyễn Duy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Đặng Tong having to interfere. Ngô Khoi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 75th minute Ngô Khoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lê Bien saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nguyễn Van Tai Em fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lê Bien having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Ngô Khoi managed to get in a good position for a shot. After 86 minutes of play, Gia Nghia's Ngô Khoi made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lê Bien was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 89th minute, Lê Thuyet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Đặng Tong made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lê Phuc in the 90th minute of play. In the 92ndth minute of the game Nguyễn Duy who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gia Nghia's Đặng Tong was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 96 minutes into the match, Gia Nghia's Ngô Khoi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lê Bien narrowly saved just below the crossbar. There was no doubt that Gia Nghia were the better team. Gia Nghia's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
