Lai Chau's Huỳnh Binh proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 6th minute of the match, managed to save Lai Chau from getting a goal against them. The Kontum players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Lai Chau were winning 0-1.

Huỳnh Binh stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nguyễn Minh's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. Nguyễn Nga took the ball and in the 72 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Huỳnh Binh. Huỳnh Binh dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. In the 75thth minute of the game Nguyễn Minh who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Lai Chau's Huỳnh Binh was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Huỳnh Binh showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Minh, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. After 77 played minutes Lai Chau got a freekick which was hit by Lê Lam. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nguyễn Liem got free with Nguyễn Thanh Bình in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 84 minutes, Phan Quang Thanh managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lai Chau's supporters crossed their fingers, but Phan Quang Thanh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nguyễn Liem received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Nguyễn Thanh Bình tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 90 minutes into the match, Kontum's goal looked a bit too open when Phan Quang Thanh came free, but Nguyễn Thanh Bình reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 95th minute, Kontum's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Nguyễn Liem fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Kontum had won after a very even match.
