Manchester City's Mai Thuy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Tong in the 10th minute of play. In the 11th minute, Nguyễn Tong ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mai Thuy was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After having played for 14 minutes, Phan Viet managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Manchester City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Phan Viet was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Nguyễn Thi Ngoc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Phạm Duong charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Phạm Duong the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 18th minute, Phạm Duong hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Trang Bang getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Trần Teo hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Manchester City's Nguyễn Thanh got a free kick in the 22nd minute. In the 27th minute, Nguyễn Tong got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Manchester City's zone, Nguyễn Thi Ngoc stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mai Thuy came out of the goal and Nguyễn Thi Ngoc tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mai Thuy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Tong, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Phan Viet in the 37th minute of play forced Trang Bang's goalkeeper Lê Hoang to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 43rd match minute, Trang Bang was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Phuc to maneuver through the defense. 46 minutes had been played when some careless play by Trang Bang's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Nguyễn Pham was slow to take the kick. During this time Manchester City's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Lê Pham heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Phan Viet made a kick off. Mai Thuy stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nguyễn Tong's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. Nguyễn Thanh kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Phan Hoang hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Manchester City's Mai Thuy proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Manchester City from getting a goal against them. Phan Viet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Nguyễn Thi Ngoc struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Mai Thuy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Trang Bang. Lê Teo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Lê Hoang tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Trần Teo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match clock showed 74 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Nguyễn Tong sped through Manchester City's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Mai Thuy. After a rather tough play, Manchester City's Nguyễn Thanh got a free kick in the 78th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nguyễn Thi Ngoc got free with Mai Thuy in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nguyễn Thanh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lê Hoang having to interfere. Lê Hoang showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lê Teo, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Mai Thuy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Tong in the 95th minute of the match. Trang Bang's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
