In the 15th match minute, Bắc Ninh was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Dung to maneuver through the defense. In the 17th minute, Nguyễn Minh reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Nguyễn Loc. The goal made the score 1-0. Kontum's Nguyễn Thanh Bình played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nghiêm Cadeo in the 25th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Nghiêm Cadeo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nguyễn Thanh Bình was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nguyễn Minh to make the kick off. With his leg Nguyễn Thanh Bình managed to avoid a goal in the 78thth minute, when Bắc Ninh's Hồ Lien fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side.
