The referee gave Dong Hoi a penalty, 26 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Phạm Tuan, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of tật club's Trịnh Duong. 1-1. Nguyễn Hung's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tạ Phuong read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. Tạ Phuong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lê Thai in the 40th minute of the match. If Trần Thuyet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 46th match minute, tật club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Đoàn Dong to maneuver through the defense. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lê Thai stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tạ Phuong took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Hung, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 56 minutes into the match, Dong Hoi's Phạm Thi Ngoc sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Trịnh Duong narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Nguyễn Hung sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 76 minutes into the game, Nguyễn Hung cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Tạ Phuong was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Tạ Phuong came out of the goal in the 79th minute to try and stop a shot by tật club's Nguyễn Hung. But to his dismay, Nguyễn Hung quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. In the 82nd match minute, Dong Hoi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Phạm Tuan to maneuver through the defense.
