Phạm Thi Ngoc received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Nguyễn Hong tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. da lat fc's Nguyễn Hong played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trần Thuyet in the 11th minute of play. Nguyễn Hong showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Đặng Dong, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Dong Hoi's zone, Vũ Chi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tạ Phuong came out of the goal and Vũ Chi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 31st minute, Trần Thuyet left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Dong Hoi fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. An unexpected shot in the 37th minute by Lâm Minh-ha got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when Phạm Thi Ngoc made the kick off in the second half. Lâm Minh-ha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 50th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Phạm Thi Ngoc couldn't finish the play. Phạm Thi Ngoc recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Phạm Thi Ngoc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tạ Phuong stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lâm Minh-ha's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. Trần Thuyet could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Nguyễn Hong made a huge save. In the 91st minute, Phạm Thi Ngoc reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Nguyễn Hong. The goal made the score 0-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lâm Minh-ha in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tạ Phuong saved Dong Hoi from getting behind. The Dong Hoi supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Dong Hoi would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
