After a rather tough play, Phu Ly's Tạ Lien got a free kick in the 5th minute. Nguyễn Teo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hồ Thai in the 7th minute of play. In the 7th match minute, Phu Ly was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tạ Lien to maneuver through the defense. If Lê Than had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, Phu Ly's Nguyễn Teo got control of the ball when Lê Than tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 22 minutes, Lê Than managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tam Ky's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lê Than was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tạ Lien's late challenge caught a Tam Ky's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tạ Lien helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Tam Ky booed when Phu Ly was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tạ Lien didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 25th minute, Nguyễn Hoang sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Phu Ly's Nguyễn Teo didn't even have to move. Lê Than came free with the goalkeeper in the 27th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Nguyễn Teo could save by the left post. Tôn Lan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Võ Nam's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Võ Nam in the 33rd minute of play forced Tam Ky's goalkeeper Tôn Lan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lê Than sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nguyễn Hoai received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Tôn Lan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 40 minutes into the match, Võ Nam had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tôn Lan. Tam Ky's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Võ Nam was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hồ Thai made a kick off. With a little luck, Tam Ky's Tôn Lan got control of the ball when Võ Nam tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lê Than kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Tôn Lan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Hoai in the 62nd minute of the match. In the 69th minute, Võ Nam made a precise shot to the right of Tôn Lan. Tam Ky's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. After having played for 74 minutes, Võ Nam managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nguyễn Nguyet charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nguyễn Nguyet the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 92nd minute, Nguyễn Nguyet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 93rd minute Nguyễn Hoai shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tôn Lan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Tam Ky's zone, Nguyễn Tuyet stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tôn Lan came out of the goal and Nguyễn Tuyet tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Phu Ly eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
