Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Nguyễn Hong Minh kicked off to start the match. In the 3rd minute Trần Minh shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Nga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Hoang Anh Gia Lai getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Trần Teo hit a great ball. In the 10th play minute Lý Van Quyen came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Nguyễn Nga. 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Trần Minh managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tay Ninh's supporters rose to their feet, but Trần Minh was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nguyễn Nga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Chung Loc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Hong Minh in the 17th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nguyễn Hong Minh in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Chung Loc prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trần Minh in the 22nd minute of play forced Hoang Anh Gia Lai's goalkeeper Nguyễn Nga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hoang Anh Gia Lai's Nguyễn Nga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trần Minh in the 29th minute of play. Lý Van Quyen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 37th minute Trần Minh shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Nga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With his leg Nguyễn Nga managed to avoid a goal in the 38thth minute, when Tay Ninh's Lý Van Quyen fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Nguyễn Nga stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Trần Minh's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute. In the 46th minute, Tay Ninh's Nguyễn Lan seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Nguyễn Lan the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Tay Ninh protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Nguyễn Lan had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 45th minute of the game. One of Tay Ninh:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Hoang Anh Gia Lai:s goal. Chung Loc had in the 48thth minute some difficulties stopping Lý Hong Minh's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lý Van Quyen stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Hoang Anh Gia Lai's Nguyễn Nga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lý Van Quyen in the 53rd minute of play. Lý Hong Minh charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lý Hong Minh the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Lý Hong Minh kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Chung Loc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Hong Minh, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 63 minutes, Lý Van Quyen put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Nguyễn Nga. Chung Loc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Hong Minh, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. In the 71st minute, Nguyễn Hong Minh got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nguyễn Nga came out of the goal in the 74th minute to try and stop a shot by Tay Ninh's Lý Van Quyen. But to his dismay, Lý Van Quyen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. After 81 minutes, Nguyễn Tuan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tay Ninh and the Hoang Anh Gia Lai players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 81 played minutes Tay Ninh got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Tuan. Lê Minh Phượng's late challenge caught a Hoang Anh Gia Lai's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lê Minh Phượng helped the player get up and apologised. In the 88th minute, Lê Minh Phượng hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Trần Teo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chung Loc having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Trần Teo got free with Chung Loc in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Trần Thuyet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tay Ninh's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
