Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Trần Minh kicked off to start the match. Nguyễn Minh's late challenge caught a Tay Ninh's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nguyễn Minh helped the player get up and apologised. In the 3rd match minute, Dien Bien Phu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Minh to maneuver through the defense. Trần Minh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Vũ Diem tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 10 minutes into the match, Trần Minh notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Dien Bien Phu's Vũ Diem. Vũ Diem was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Nguyễn Tong fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Dien Bien Phu's protests and gave Nguyễn Tong a yellow card for diving instead. Nguyễn Tong hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Đặng Tuan Hoang recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Tay Ninh booed when Dien Bien Phu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hoàng Thien didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Lý Van Quyen came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Tay Ninh fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lý Van Quyen couldn't finish the play. When Huỳnh Dong fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tay Ninh's protests and gave Huỳnh Dong a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Tay Ninh's Huỳnh Dong got a free kick in the 32nd minute. After having played for 36 minutes, Trần Minh managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tay Ninh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Trần Minh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Lý Van Quyen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vũ Diem was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. Lý Van Quyen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Vũ Diem tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 47th minute Nguyễn Ritchell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chung Loc saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Tay Ninh were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nguyễn Ritchell made a kick off. Nguyễn Ritchell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vũ Diem showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trần Minh, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. With a little luck, Dien Bien Phu's Vũ Diem got control of the ball when Lý Van Quyen tried to sneak it across the goal line. Chung Loc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Đặng Tuan Hoang, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 75 minutes into the match, Trần Minh dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Vũ Diem, 1-2. Đặng Tuan Hoang's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Chung Loc read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. In the 87th minute, Đặng Tuan Hoang got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vũ Diem showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trần Minh, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. When Nguyễn Ritchell came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Dien Bien Phu fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nguyễn Ritchell couldn't finish the play. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
