In the 42nd minute, Lâm Huynh Duc ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nguyễn Duc was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. After the first half Cao Lanh were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when La Diem stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Hoàng Tuan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Duc having to interfere. La Diem sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 58 played minutes Cao Lanh got a freekick which was hit by Phạm Ho. Cao Lanh's Đặng Minh-ha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by La Diem in the 60th minute of play. Hoàng Tuan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Nguyễn Duc tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. La Diem received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Đặng Minh-ha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Đặng Minh-ha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hoàng Duy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hoàng Duy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 86 minutes, La Diem managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sam Son b's supporters crossed their fingers, but La Diem was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Đào Khoi during the 89th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
