La Chung could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Nguyễn Duc made a huge save. Lê Huỳnh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from La Diem, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Hoàng Duy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by La Diem in the 21st minute of play forced Hanoi's goalkeeper Lê Huỳnh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Sam Son b booed when Hanoi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Ritchell didn't get a good kick on the ball. When La Diem, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 23 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Lê Huỳnh was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Lê Huỳnh came out of the goal in the 25th minute to try and stop a shot by Sam Son b's Hoàng Duy. But to his dismay, Hoàng Duy quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After a rather tough play, Sam Son b's Lê Minh Phượng got a free kick in the 32nd minute. 34 minutes into the game, Hanoi's La Chung nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nguyễn Duc made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Lê Huỳnh came out of the goal in the 37th minute to try and stop a shot by Sam Son b's Hoàng Duy. But to his dismay, Hoàng Duy quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. When La Diem came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Sam Son b fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that La Diem couldn't finish the play. Hoàng Duy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hoàng Duy to strike the kick off in the second half. Ngô Tuyet charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. La Chung sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
