Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Tam Ky's Lê Hieu started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nguyễn Quang Thanh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trương Nam, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Nguyễn Tuan fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Dien Bien Phu's protests and gave Nguyễn Tuan a yellow card for diving instead. In the 5th match minute, Dien Bien Phu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Tuan to maneuver through the defense. Tam Ky's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Trần Quang Thanh in the 8th minute. Trần Quang Thanh made a great header on Tam Ky's corner, it was just that Dien Bien Phu's Trần Nghiêm-Minh managed to reach the ball for a save. After 9 played minutes Dien Bien Phu got a freekick which was hit by Phạm Hoai. In the 9th minute, Tam Ky's Lê Hieu dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Nguyễn Binh hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. 23 minutes into the match, Tam Ky's goal looked a bit too open when Phạm Hoai came free, but Nguyễn Quang Thanh reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nguyễn Quang Thanh didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Phạm Hoai went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Huỳnh Dong during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Huỳnh Dong hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Nguyễn Quang Thanh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trương Nam in the 42nd minute of play. Phạm Hoai fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Quang Thanh having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 45 minutes, Lê Hieu took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Trần Nghiêm-Minh to make any attempt to save it. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.
In the 55th minute Trương Nam shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Quang Thanh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nguyễn Quang Thanh stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Trương Nam's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. Trương Nam sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lê Bay in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Trần Nghiêm-Minh saved Dien Bien Phu from getting behind. Dien Bien Phu's Nguyễn Tuan got his second yellow card of the match in the 64th minute. The referee ordered Nguyễn Tuan off the ground. In the 65th minute, Nguyễn Tuan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tam Ky's Nguyễn Quang Thanh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Huỳnh Dong in the 69th minute of play. In the 74th match minute, Dien Bien Phu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Trương Nam to maneuver through the defense. Nguyễn Tinh kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. Tam Ky's Nguyễn Quang Thanh proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save Tam Ky from getting a goal against them. In the 81st minute Huỳnh Dong shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Quang Thanh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 82nd minute, Nguyễn Tinh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lê Hieu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Trần Nghiêm-Minh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tam Ky were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Dien Bien Phu for a fine match.
