Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Nguyễn Tuan took the kick off in the first half of the match. Lê Cuc's late challenge caught a Ben Tre's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lê Cuc helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Nam Dinh getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Lê Cuc hit a great ball. Nguyễn Thuy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Trần Minh Phượng tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nam Dinh's Phan Hong Minh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Cuc in the 19th minute of play. Tạ Nam struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Phan Hong Minh didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ben Tre. If Lê Cuc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nguyễn Tuan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Trần Minh Phượng tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 33rd minute, Đặng Thi Ngoc hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ben Tre's goalkeeper Trần Minh Phượng, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Phan Hong Minh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Cuc, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Lê Cuc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 42 minutes into the match, Ben Tre's Tạ Nam sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Phan Hong Minh narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nguyễn Cuc to make the kick off. After 53 played minutes Nam Dinh got a freekick which was hit by Lưu Dung. After a defensive mix-up in Nam Dinh's zone, Nguyễn Van Quyen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Phan Hong Minh came out of the goal and Nguyễn Van Quyen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tạ Nam fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phan Hong Minh having to interfere. 59 minutes into the game, Nguyễn Cuc recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Phan Hong Minh. Nguyễn Cuc showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-1. Nguyễn Duc hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. In the 62nd minute, Nguyễn Tuan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Trần Minh Phượng was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Nguyễn Tuan might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Trần Minh Phượng. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nguyễn Tuan ran back to his position shaking his head. When Nam Dinh's Lê Cuc in the 69th minute got a chance for a shot 69th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ben Tre's goalie prevented a goal. Nguyễn Cuc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phan Hong Minh having to interfere. In the 75th match minute, Nam Dinh was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Hieu to maneuver through the defense. Nguyễn Tuan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tạ Nam's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Phan Hong Minh read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Nam Dinh's Nguyễn Hieu got a free kick in the 87th minute. After having played for 88 minutes, Nguyễn Cuc managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ben Tre's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nguyễn Cuc was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vũ Duc during the 90th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Nam Dinh getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Vũ Duc hit a great ball. In the 98th minute Nguyễn Cuc shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Phan Hong Minh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
