Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Trang Bang's Phan Phuong started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lê Hieu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Phan Loc read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 5th minute of play. In the 20th minute of the match Trần Quang Thanh sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Phan Loc skillfully saved the ball. Nguyễn Dong hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. 24 minutes into the game, Lê Bay cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Phan Loc was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Nguyễn Quang Thanh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Phan Phuong in the 28th minute of play. Trần Tuan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Quang Thanh having to interfere. 36 minutes into the match, Phan Phuong had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nguyễn Quang Thanh. Tam Ky's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Phan Phuong was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Tam Ky's Nguyễn Quang Thanh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trần Tuan in the 40th minute of play. After 41 minutes, Nguyễn Minh-ha mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tam Ky and the Trang Bang players grew even worse after the yellow card. Nguyễn Quang Thanh came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Trang Bang's Phan Phuong. But to his dismay, Phan Phuong quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Lê Hieu made the kick off in the second half. Phan Loc made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lê Hieu in the 52nd minute of play. Phan Loc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lê Hieu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lê Hieu in the 60th minute of play forced Trang Bang's goalkeeper Phan Loc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Nguyễn Tinh came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Tam Ky fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nguyễn Tinh couldn't finish the play. In the 63rd minute, Phan Phuong hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tam Ky's Lê Hieu got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 74th minute, Nguyễn Liem hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tam Ky's Nguyễn Quang Thanh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Phan Phuong in the 76th minute of play. After 87 played minutes Trang Bang got a freekick which was hit by Lê Hoa. Trang Bang's Phan Phuong got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
