The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the game, Nguyễn Cuc was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ben Tre's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ANH DUNG DZAI the free kick. After a rather tough play, Ben Tre's Nguyễn Cuc got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Đào Nghiêm-Minh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trần Minh Phượng having to interfere. In the 9th match minute, ANH DUNG DZAI was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hoàng Van Tai Em to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Ben Tre's Nguyễn Van Quyen tried to score from far away in the 10th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. When Hoàng Van Tai Em fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ANH DUNG DZAI's protests and gave Hoàng Van Tai Em a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Ben Tre booed when ANH DUNG DZAI was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hoàng Van Tai Em didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 16th minute Nguyễn Cuc shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bùi Minh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 17th minute, Trần Hieu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 18 minutes into the match, Nguyễn Cuc had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bùi Minh. ANH DUNG DZAI's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nguyễn Cuc was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Tạ Nam sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Đào Nghiêm-Minh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Trần Minh Phượng tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 28th match minute, Ben Tre was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Đặng Thi Ngoc to maneuver through the defense. When ANH DUNG DZAI's Đào Nghiêm-Minh in 30 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Trần Minh Phượng guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Bùi Minh stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tạ Nam's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. After 38 played minutes ANH DUNG DZAI got a freekick which was hit by Trần Hieu. In a very dangerous position, a player in Ben Tre fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 41st minute. Penalty! Phạm Minh struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Trần Minh Phượng didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ANH DUNG DZAI. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nguyễn Cuc to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute of the match Triệu Thi Ngoc shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Trần Minh Phượng showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Phạm Minh struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Trần Minh Phượng didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ANH DUNG DZAI. The nice shot from Tạ Nam in the 59thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Bùi Minh had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Tạ Nam fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bùi Minh having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Phạm Minh managed to get in a good position for a shot. ANH DUNG DZAI's supporters rose to their feet, but Phạm Minh was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Trần Minh Phượng breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Phạm Minh struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Trần Minh Phượng didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ANH DUNG DZAI. Phạm Minh blasted a shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Trần Minh Phượng having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Cuc in the 81st minute of play forced ANH DUNG DZAI's goalkeeper Bùi Minh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Ben Tre defense, Đào Nghiêm-Minh kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Trần Minh Phượng. The Ben Tre fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Trần Minh Phượng should have stopped the shot. When ANH DUNG DZAI's Đào Nghiêm-Minh in the 88th minute got a chance for a shot 88th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ben Tre's goalie prevented a goal. Trần Minh Phượng made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Đào Nghiêm-Minh in the 92nd minute of play. Tạ Nam sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. For all the effort they put into the match, the Ben Tre players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for ANH DUNG DZAI.
