The supporters of Mong Cai booed when Ba Ria was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Đặng Ritchell didn't get a good kick on the ball. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
The wind increased when Lê Tong made the kick off in the second half. Nguyễn Thuyet made a fantastic save in the 54th minute, when Đặng Liem sent off a good shot on target. 57 minutes into the match, Mong Cai's goal looked a bit too open when Đặng Ritchell came free, but Nguyễn Thuy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nguyễn Thuy came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by Ba Ria's Đặng Ritchell. But to his dismay, Đặng Ritchell quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Mong Cai's Nguyễn Thuy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hồ Quang in the 63rd minute of play. Đặng Liem received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Nguyễn Thuyet tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Ba Ria's zone, Đặng Liem stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nguyễn Thuyet came out of the goal and Đặng Liem tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mong Cai's Đặng Liem got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nguyễn Thuyet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lê Tong in the 93rd minute of play. In the 96th minute of the match, Lê Tong tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Nguyễn Thuyet saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
