Bùi Bay's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Trần Mai read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. Trần Mai made an important save on a dangerous shot by Huỳnh Thai in the 59th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Bùi Bay managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tien Giang's supporters rose to their feet, but Bùi Bay was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Trần Mai breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Huỳnh Thai recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 65 minutes into the match, Đặng Bien notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Tien Giang's Lê Tuan. Lê Tuan was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 72 played minutes Tien Giang got a freekick which was hit by Huỳnh Thai. After a rather tough play, Rach Gia's Lê Cuc got a free kick in the 76th minute.
