An unexpectedly hard shot by Phạm Hung in the 22nd minute of play forced Cao Lanh's goalkeeper Lê Thi Ngoc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Cao Lanh were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Lê Nguyet made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Phạm Minh sent off a good shot on target. Lê Quang Thanh took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 57th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Lê Thi Ngoc. Cao Lanh's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 65th match minute, Cao Lanh was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bùi Thi Ngoc to maneuver through the defense. In the 66th minute, Lê Quang Thanh sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Cao Lanh's Lê Thi Ngoc didn't even have to move. A hard shot 68 in the game by Phạm Minh from a close distance when the talented Lê Nguyet managed to make a qualified save. Phu Yen's players were relieved. In the 69th minute of the match, Phạm Minh got a very nice opportunity to score, but Lê Nguyet was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Lê Thi Ngoc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Phạm Hung in the 71st minute of the match. In the 72nd minute, Phu Yen's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Phạm Minh fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Triệu Nguyet recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 82 played minutes Phu Yen got a freekick which was hit by Phạm Huỳnh. Phạm Minh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lê Nguyet having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Phu Yen's zone, Triệu Nguyet stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lê Nguyet came out of the goal and Triệu Nguyet tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 91 minutes into the match, Phu Yen's goal looked a bit too open when Triệu Nguyet came free, but Lê Nguyet reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Phạm Minh got free with Lê Nguyet in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Phạm Minh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
