Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Nguyễn Duong started the match with the kick off. Lê Nguyet showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Duong in the 3rd minute of the match. Phạm Hung fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dương Than having to interfere. 20 minutes into the match, Phu Yen's goal looked a bit too open when Hoàng Thai came free, but Lê Nguyet reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dương Than made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Phạm Hung in the 21st minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Phạm Hung in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dương Than prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Nguyễn Duong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lê Hieu's late challenge caught a Phu Yen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lê Hieu helped the player get up and apologised. In the 28th minute, Lê Liem left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Phu Yen fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. When Hoàng Thai came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Nha Trang fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hoàng Thai couldn't finish the play. In the 36th minute, Lê Liem left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Phu Yen fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nguyễn Duong in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lê Nguyet saved Phu Yen from getting behind. Lê Liem received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Dương Than tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dương Than didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lê Liem went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-2 at half-time.

In the 53rd match minute, Nha Trang was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Cong Vinh to maneuver through the defense. In the 56th minute, Phạm Hung got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Hoàng Thai had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 67 minutes into the match, Nha Trang's goal looked a bit too open when Lê Liem came free, but Dương Than reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 75th minute Nguyễn Duong shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lê Nguyet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dương Than stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Phạm Hung's shot from short distance in the 76th minute. The referee felt a red card was in order, 77 minutes into the game, when Nguyễn Hung put in a rough tackle. Dương Than took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Phạm Hung, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Lê Liem managed to get in a good position for a shot. Phu Yen's supporters rose to their feet, but Lê Liem was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dương Than breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 88th minute Phạm Hung shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dương Than saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Phu Yen's attack was well implemented in the 92nd minute, but when Lê Liem was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick. Lê Nguyet made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hoàng Thai in the 96th minute. A nice corner shot did that Trần Dong got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Lê Nguyet quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Phu Yen had won after a very even match.
