With a left leg Trần Mai saved Ducanh from getting behind. 8 minutes into the match, Nha Trang's goalkeeper Nguyễn Hung had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dương Liem. If Vương Chi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Trần Mai made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chung Duc in the 11th minute of play. Dương Liem's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nguyễn Hung read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. When Nguyễn Cong Vinh came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Nha Trang fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nguyễn Cong Vinh couldn't finish the play. Nguyễn Tho struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Nguyễn Hung didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ducanh. Dương Liem sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 27th minute, Ducanh's Nguyễn Tho ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nguyễn Hung. Nguyễn Hung yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. After 30 played minutes Nha Trang got a freekick which was hit by Chung Duc. A collision led to Ducanh getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Nguyễn Minh-ha hit a great ball. When Nha Trang's Chung Duc in the 35th minute got a chance for a shot 35th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ducanh's goalie prevented a goal. Trần Mai stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Chung Duc's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. Trần Mai showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chung Duc, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Chung Duc recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Dương Liem had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Nguyễn Tho made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ducanh's goalkeeper Trần Mai, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 57th minute Nguyễn Tho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Hung saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 59 minutes into the match, Ducanh's Dương Liem sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nguyễn Hung narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 66 minutes into the match, Ducanh's goalkeeper Trần Mai had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nguyễn Cong Vinh. In the 69th minute, Nguyễn Cong Vinh got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 72ndth minute of the game Chung Duc who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ducanh's Trần Mai was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Nha Trang's Trần Bien got a free kick in the 75th minute. Nguyễn Cong Vinh scored 1-1 in the 79th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Trần Mai, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
