Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Nghiêm Khoi made the kick off which started today's match. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Nguyễn Phuoc managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vinh Long's supporters rose to their feet, but Nguyễn Phuoc was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Đinh Phuong breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Đặng Tu in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mai Minh Phượng prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 25 minutes, Vương Van Tai Em managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kontum's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vương Van Tai Em was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Vinh Long getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Trần Quang hit a great ball. Mai Minh Phượng showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Đặng Tu in the 28th minute of the match. In the 29th minute, Đặng Nguyet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 32nd minute, one of Kontum:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Kontum. When the match had been going on for 34 minutes, Vinh Long's Lê Tấn Dũng got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Đinh Phuong. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vinh Long's goalkeeper Mai Minh Phượng, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Nguyễn Minh Phượng recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mai Minh Phượng made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Đặng Tu in the 46th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Đặng Tu to make the kick off. Đặng Tu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Mai Minh Phượng tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vũ Hong Minh during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Vinh Long booed when Kontum was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vũ Hong Minh didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 58th minute Trần Hoang shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Đinh Phuong saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 62 minutes, Nghiêm Khoi made it 2-0 with a short kick to the right side. Kontum's Đinh Phuong tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Mai Minh Phượng took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Đặng Tu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vương Van Tai Em during the 67th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Vương Van Tai Em hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. When Trần Diem fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vinh Long's protests and gave Trần Diem a yellow card for diving instead. Trần Diem kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Kontum's Nguyễn Minh Phượng got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mai Minh Phượng took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Đặng Tu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Kontum getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Vương Van Tai Em hit a great ball. Đinh Phuong showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trần Hoang, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nghiêm Khoi in the 92nd minute of play forced Kontum's goalkeeper Đinh Phuong to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Kontum getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Phạm Hong Minh hit a great ball. Nghiêm Khoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Đinh Phuong having to interfere. In the 97th minute, Trần Hoang left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Vinh Long fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. For all the effort they put into the match, the Kontum players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Vinh Long.
