The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Tuyen Quang booed when Việt Nam was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Trần Nga didn't get a good kick on the ball. Chung Hung blasted a shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dương Khoi having to make a save. If Nguyễn Binh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chung Hung received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Dương Khoi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Việt Nam's Nguyễn Thanh Bình played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Cuc in the 32nd minute of play. A very good chance. Dương Khoi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trần Nga, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. After 93 minutes of play, Việt Nam's Nguyễn Binh made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dương Khoi was left in no man's land by his defense there! Việt Nam were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Tuyen Quang for a fine match.
