Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Đào Van Quyen kicked off to start the match. After a rather tough play, Dong Xam's Nguyễn Hong Minh got a free kick in the 2nd minute. In the 5th minute, Nguyễn Hong Minh got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Trần Quang Thanh made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nguyễn Cong Vinh in the 11th minute. Dong Xam's Trần Quang Thanh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hoàng Tho in the 16th minute of play. Nguyễn Cong Vinh could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Trần Quang Thanh made a huge save. Lê Tuan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Nguyễn Tho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Hoàng Huynh Duc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 41st minute, Nguyễn Cong Vinh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 43 played minutes Tien Giang got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Hanh. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lê Duc stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes Dong Xam got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Nhật Minh. Trần Quang Thanh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Cong Vinh in the 56th minute of play. Trần Quang Thanh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hoàng Tho in the 58th minute of the match. Trần Quang Thanh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Cong Vinh, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 61st minute, Lê Tuan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 65th minute, Nguyễn Hong Minh got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Trần Quang Thanh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lê Duc in the 76th minute of play. In the 76th minute, Lê Hieu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lê Duc took the ball and in the 80 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Trần Quang Thanh. Trần Quang Thanh dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Nguyễn Tho made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Nguyễn Hong Minh sent off a good shot on target. Trần Quang Thanh showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lê Duc, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. Hoàng Tho charged in rather forcefully in the 96th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hoàng Tho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Hoàng Tho hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Tien Giang fans cheered their team off the field, for while Dong Xam had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
