The referee felt a red card was in order, 10 minutes into the game, when Hoàng Lien put in a rough tackle. 9 minutes into the game, one of Bien Hoa:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 12th minute, the referee gave Quang Ngai a penalty. Nguyễn Van Tai Em looked confident and blasted the ball into goal by the left post, totally unstoppable for Nguyễn Loc. In the 14th minute, Quang Ngai's Phùng Ho ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nguyễn Loc. Nguyễn Loc yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Nguyễn Thuyet managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bien Hoa's supporters rose to their feet, but Nguyễn Thuyet was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Phạm Tan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 28 minutes into the match, Quang Ngai's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Thai came free, but Phạm Tan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nguyễn Duy's late challenge caught a Bien Hoa's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nguyễn Duy helped the player get up and apologised. In the 34th minute, Nguyễn Lien left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Quang Ngai fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. Hoàng Duong kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Phạm Tan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Thuyet in the 39th minute of the match. Nguyễn Lien fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Loc having to interfere. Nguyễn Loc made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Nguyễn Lien sent off a good shot on target. When Phùng Ho came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Quang Ngai fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Phùng Ho couldn't finish the play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Phùng Ho stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Hoàng Duong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 54 minutes, Phùng Ho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Quang Ngai's supporters crossed their fingers, but Phùng Ho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Quang Ngai booed when Bien Hoa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Phạm Dong didn't get a good kick on the ball. Phùng Ho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Loc having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nguyễn Lien in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nguyễn Loc prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 64th match minute, Bien Hoa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Phan Dong to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Phùng Ho in the 66th minute of play forced Bien Hoa's goalkeeper Nguyễn Loc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nguyễn Loc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Phùng Ho, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. When Nguyễn Duy was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 68 minutes had been played. Nguyễn Duy hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Mai Tuan's late challenge caught a Quang Ngai's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 80 minutes into the match, Nguyễn Lien had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nguyễn Loc. Bien Hoa's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nguyễn Lien was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. Nguyễn Thuyet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 93 minutes, Nguyễn Thai managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bien Hoa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nguyễn Thai was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 96th match minute, Quang Ngai was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hoàng Duong to maneuver through the defense. Trần Teo took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 96th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Phạm Tan. Quang Ngai's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Quang Ngai were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Bien Hoa for a fine match.
