In the 18th minute, Võ Thuy left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ba Ria-Vung Tau fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 21st minute, Võ Thuy ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Huỳnh Huy was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Nguyễn Phuc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lê Huynh Duc, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. After 25 minutes, Nguyễn Minh Phượng mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cam Ranh and the Ba Ria-Vung Tau players grew even worse after the yellow card. 51 minutes into the game, one of Cam Ranh:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. After having played for 56 minutes, Hoàng Thuyet managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cam Ranh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hoàng Thuyet was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nguyễn Quang Thanh got free with Huỳnh Huy in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lê Huynh Duc kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Võ Thuy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Huỳnh Huy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Nguyễn Quang Thanh managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ba Ria-Vung Tau's supporters rose to their feet, but Nguyễn Quang Thanh was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Trần Hoang's late challenge caught a Ba Ria-Vung Tau's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. When Võ Thuy came up free with the goalie in the 98th minute, the Ba Ria-Vung Tau fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Võ Thuy couldn't finish the play. The Ba Ria-Vung Tau supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Ba Ria-Vung Tau would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
