The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 16 minutes into the match, Dream League Soccer's goal looked a bit too open when Lưu Phu came free, but Trần Cuc reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Dream League Soccer's goalkeeper Trần Cuc, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lưu Phu in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Trần Cuc saved Dream League Soccer from getting behind. When the match clock showed 30 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Lưu Phu sped through Dream League Soccer's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Trần Cuc. Nguyễn Cadeo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Trần Cuc came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by Son La's Lưu Phu. But to his dismay, Lưu Phu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Nguyễn Cadeo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Son La were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lưu Phu to make the kick off. Trần Cuc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lưu Phu, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. The audience was convinced that Lưu Phu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Trần Cuc was relentless in the 54th minute of the game.
