Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Nguyễn Thuyet kicked off to start the match. After a rather tough play, The Whales's Nguyễn Hong Minh got a free kick in the 7th minute. In the 8th match minute, Hòa Binh FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lưu Phong to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in The Whales's zone, Lương Lam stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Phạm Nhật Minh came out of the goal and Lương Lam tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nguyễn Chi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 26 played minutes The Whales got a freekick which was hit by Trần Van Quyen. Nguyễn Thuyet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Huỳnh Tuan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nghiêm Ho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, The Whales's Nguyễn Hong Minh got a free kick in the 45th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Dinh in the 46th minute of play forced The Whales's goalkeeper Phạm Nhật Minh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nguyễn Dinh was the one to do the kick off. If Lương Lam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpected shot in the 54th minute by Nghiêm Ho got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. When Lương Lam came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Hòa Binh FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lương Lam couldn't finish the play. Nguyễn Dinh's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Phạm Nhật Minh read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. 62 minutes into the game, Trần Van Quyen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. The Whales's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hòa Binh FC the free kick. After 62 played minutes The Whales got a freekick which was hit by Trần Van Quyen. After 65 minutes of play The Whales's Trần Van Quyen was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 69th minute, The Whales's Nguyễn Hong Minh dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-1. When Nguyễn Thuyet fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored The Whales's protests and gave Nguyễn Thuyet a yellow card for diving instead. In the 77th minute, Nguyễn Thuyet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Whales's Phạm Nhật Minh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Dinh in the 79th minute of play. Nghiêm Ho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Huỳnh Tuan having to interfere. If Nguyễn Dinh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lương Lam might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Phạm Nhật Minh. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lương Lam ran back to his position shaking his head. Lương Lam scored 1-1 in the 95th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Phạm Nhật Minh, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
