Lê Loc made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Lê Ho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Lê Loc tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Trần Cadeo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trần Ho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 0-2 became the score in the 13th minute when Nguyễn Tinh elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Nguyễn Tinh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 24 minutes into the game, An Gian's Nguyễn Tinh nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lê Loc made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Vinh Yen's Lê Loc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Tinh in the 29th minute of play. When Nguyễn Tinh came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the An Gian fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nguyễn Tinh couldn't finish the play. If Nguyễn Tinh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Huỳnh Anh Hung kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Lê Loc made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Van Quyen in the 41st minute of play. Nguyễn Tinh recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When An Gian's Lê Ho in 44 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Lê Loc guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. After 45 minutes, Nguyễn Tinh made it 0-4 with a short kick to the right side. Vinh Yen's Lê Loc tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Tinh in the 67th minute of play forced Vinh Yen's goalkeeper Lê Loc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 68 minutes in the game, Trần Thanh Bình fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Lê Loc having to interfere. After having played for 69 minutes, Nguyễn Tinh managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. An Gian's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nguyễn Tinh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lê Thuyet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 74th minute Nguyễn Tinh shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lê Loc saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nguyễn Tinh recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 80th match minute, Vinh Yen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Van Tai Em to maneuver through the defense. Vinh Yen's Lê Loc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Tinh in the 82nd minute of play. Trần Cadeo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trần Ho in the 83rd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Nguyễn Tinh's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lê Loc was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. Lê Loc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hồ Nga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 87 minutes, Nguyễn Tuan mouthed his way into the referee's book. An Gian played a much better game than Vinh Yen and deserved their victory. The Vinh Yen players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
