Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Nguyễn Tuan kicked off to start the match. If Dương Nam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. HA NOI's Trần Bien played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Tuan in the 6th minute of play. After 7 minutes, Trần Lan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the HA NOI and the Phú Thọ FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Phú Thọ FC booed when HA NOI was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Trần Lan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nguyễn Minh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trần Bien having to interfere. Trần Bien stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nguyễn Tuan's shot from short distance in the 10th minute. Nguyễn Minh had several of the HA NOI's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 12 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Trần Bien as he didn't even see the shot coming. If Nguyễn Minh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Phan Minh Phượng hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Nguyễn Cadeo, 19 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Phan Minh Phượng kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. In the 21st minute, Nguyễn Minh got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 27th minute of the match Bùi Hieu Ngan sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vũ Than skillfully saved the ball. Trần Bien showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Tuan, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. A collision led to HA NOI getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Trần Thai hit a great ball. 37 minutes into the match, Dương Nam had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vũ Than. Phú Thọ FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dương Nam was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 40th match minute, Phú Thọ FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Đào Tinh to maneuver through the defense. Huỳnh Hieu Ngan struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Vũ Than didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for HA NOI.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dương Nam made a kick off. In the 54th minute, Huỳnh Hieu Ngan left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The HA NOI fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. In the 58th minute, one of HA NOI:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for HA NOI. Trần Bien showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Tuan, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in HA NOI's zone, Nguyễn Tuan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Trần Bien came out of the goal and Nguyễn Tuan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vũ Than made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dương Nam in the 73rd minute of play. If Huỳnh Hieu Ngan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 80th minute, Huỳnh Hieu Ngan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vũ Than made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Trần Thai sent off a good shot on target. In the 95th minute, Huỳnh Hieu Ngan made a precise shot to the right of Vũ Than. Phú Thọ FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-3. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. HA NOI had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
