With an extended leg and a bit of luck Huỳnh Tu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nguyễn Thanh charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nguyễn Thanh the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Nguyễn Thanh hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Lý Lam fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Huỳnh Tu having to interfere. Huỳnh Tu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lý Lam in the 20th minute of the match. If Lý Lam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Van Don Port's Bùi Minh was substituted for Đặng Quang. 25 minutes into the game, one of Ha Noi F.C.V.:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match clock showed 31 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Lý Lam sped through Ha Noi F.C.V.'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Huỳnh Tu. Đặng Binh kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Lê Nga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hồ Phuc, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Lý Lam received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Huỳnh Tu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Trần Tuan kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hồ Phuc made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Lý Lam shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Huỳnh Tu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 56th minute of the match Van Don Port got a corner. Ha Noi F.C.V.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Lê Ho ran over to the corner to take the kick. Nguyễn Loc kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Ha Noi F.C.V.'s Huỳnh Tu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lê Ho in the 57th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hồ Phuc in the 59th minute of play forced Van Don Port's goalkeeper Lê Nga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 62nd minute Hồ Phuc shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lê Nga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 65th minute of the match Trần Tuan sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lê Nga skillfully saved the ball. Nguyễn Loc took the ball and in the 66 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lê Nga. Lê Nga dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. The audience was convinced that Lý Lam's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Huỳnh Tu was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. In the 83rd minute, Hồ Phuc ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lê Nga was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. After a defensive mix-up in Ha Noi F.C.V.'s zone, Lý Lam stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Huỳnh Tu came out of the goal and Lý Lam tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lý Lam fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Huỳnh Tu having to interfere. With his leg Huỳnh Tu managed to avoid a goal in the 95thth minute, when Van Don Port's Lý Lam fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Many of Van Don Port's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Van Don Port may have spent more time on the ball, but Ha Noi F.C.V. were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
