With his leg Phạm Diem managed to avoid a goal in the 7thth minute, when Tay Ninh's Huỳnh Minh-ha fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Huỳnh Minh-ha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 12th minute Trần Hoa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Phạm Diem saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 15th minute, Huỳnh Minh-ha reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Phạm Diem. The goal made the score 1-0. Bùi Nguyet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trần Minh Phượng in the 19th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Trần Hoa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tay Ninh's supporters rose to their feet, but Trần Hoa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Phạm Diem breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 23rd match minute, RPT AK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Tuyet to maneuver through the defense. In the 29thth minute of the game Trần Minh Phượng who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tay Ninh's Bùi Nguyet was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Huỳnh Minh-ha got free with Phạm Diem in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 40th minute, Tay Ninh's Trần Hoa dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. When the match had gone on for 45 minutes, Trần Minh Phượng put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Bùi Nguyet.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Trần Minh Phượng to make the kick off. Nguyễn Viet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. RPT AK's Phạm Diem played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Huỳnh Minh-ha in the 75th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Trần Minh Phượng's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bùi Nguyet was relentless in the 80th minute of the game.
