After 3 minutes of play, Dien Bien's Phan Dung made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Huỳnh Tu was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Dien Bien booed when Ha Noi F.C.V. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Thanh didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Triệu Viet during the 7th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 7 played minutes Dien Bien got a freekick which was hit by Triệu Viet. A collision led to Dien Bien getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Triệu Viet hit a great ball. Hồ Phuc kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. Huỳnh Tu came out of the goal in the 12th minute to try and stop a shot by Dien Bien's Nguyễn Khoi. But to his dismay, Nguyễn Khoi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. 16 minutes into the match, Dien Bien's Phan Dung sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Huỳnh Tu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Trần Khoi hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Triệu Viet, 19 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Huỳnh Tu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Phan Dung in the 27th minute of the match. Nguyễn Khoi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Huỳnh Tu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. Huỳnh Tu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Khoi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ha Noi F.C.V.'s Huỳnh Tu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Khoi in the 31st minute of play. Phan Dung blasted a shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Huỳnh Tu having to make a save. The audience was convinced that Phan Dung's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Huỳnh Tu was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. If Phan Dung had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 40th minute Hồ Phuc shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hoàng Phuc saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Phan Dung received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Huỳnh Tu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Phan Dung came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Dien Bien fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Phan Dung couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Ha Noi F.C.V. booed when Dien Bien was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Pham didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hoàng Phuc made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Nguyễn Loc sent off a good shot on target. After the first half Dien Bien were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hồ Phuc was the one to do the kick off. In the 57th minute, Hồ Phuc got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Trần Tuan kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. 61 minutes into the game, Văn Thi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Dien Bien's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ha Noi F.C.V. the free kick. A collision led to Dien Bien getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Văn Thi hit a great ball. Phan Dung struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Huỳnh Tu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dien Bien. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Phan Dung managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dien Bien's supporters rose to their feet, but Phan Dung was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Huỳnh Tu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 68 minutes into the match, Dien Bien's goal looked a bit too open when Hồ Phuc came free, but Hoàng Phuc reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Huỳnh Tu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Khoi in the 70th minute of play. Phan Dung made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 71stth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Huỳnh Tu would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. A hard shot 77 in the game by Phan Dung from a close distance when the talented Huỳnh Tu managed to make a qualified save. Ha Noi F.C.V.'s players were relieved. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hồ Phuc in the 79th minute of play forced Dien Bien's goalkeeper Hoàng Phuc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 80th minute, Phan Dung left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Dien Bien fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Hồ Phuc struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. When the final whistle sounded Dien Bien left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Ha Noi F.C.V..
