Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Trần Hoa took the kick off in the first half of the match. Huỳnh Minh-ha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hoàng Phuc having to interfere. 8 minutes into the match, Tay Ninh's Trần Hoa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hoàng Phuc narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 9 minutes into the match, Nguyễn Khoi notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Tay Ninh's Bùi Nguyet. Bùi Nguyet was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A hard shot 14 in the game by Trần Hoa from a close distance when the talented Hoàng Phuc managed to make a qualified save. Dien Bien's players were relieved. Nguyễn Khoi scored 0-2 in the 19th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bùi Nguyet, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Tay Ninh's Bùi Nguyet played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Khoi in the 25th minute of play. Nguyễn Khoi scored 0-3 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bùi Nguyet, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 36 minutes into the match, Dien Bien's Nguyễn Khoi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bùi Nguyet narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Trần Hoa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tay Ninh's supporters rose to their feet, but Trần Hoa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hoàng Phuc breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Phan Dung in the 45th minute of play forced Tay Ninh's goalkeeper Bùi Nguyet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nguyễn Khoi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nguyễn Khoi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tay Ninh's Bùi Nguyet played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Khoi in the 53rd minute of play. Nguyễn Pham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bùi Nguyet having to interfere. After 66 played minutes Dien Bien got a freekick which was hit by Hoàng Tuyet. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trần Hoa in the 68th minute of play forced Dien Bien's goalkeeper Hoàng Phuc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Trần Hoa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Hoàng Phuc tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Dien Bien's Triệu Viet got a free kick in the 79th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Dien Bien's zone, Trần Hoa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hoàng Phuc came out of the goal and Trần Hoa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dien Bien's Hoàng Phuc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Huỳnh Minh-ha in the 83rd minute of play. After 92 played minutes, Tay Ninh's Nguyễn Thanh Bình shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Hoàng Phuc came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Tay Ninh reached it. The audience was convinced that Huỳnh Minh-ha's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hoàng Phuc was relentless in the 96th minute of the game. The Dien Bien supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Dien Bien would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
