In the 15th minute of the match, Lê Tuyet tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Lê Nga saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 19 minutes into the game, Nguyễn Quang was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC GOCCAY's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Van Don Port the free kick. In the 19th minute, Nguyễn Quang hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC GOCCAY's goalkeeper Phạm Thanh, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 32 minutes, Nguyễn Thi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC GOCCAY and the Van Don Port players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, FC GOCCAY's Nguyễn Thi got a free kick in the 32nd minute. In the 32nd minute of the match Lê Ho shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Phạm Thanh showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Nguyễn Huynh Duc hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. FC GOCCAY's Phạm Thanh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lý Lam in the 38th minute of play. In the 40th minute Lê Tuyet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lê Nga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lê Tuyet received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Lê Nga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lý Lam was the one to do the kick off. After 53 minutes FC GOCCAY's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Lê Ho who took care of the corner kick. In the 55th minute Van Don Port were awarded a corner. Lê Ho went to the cornerflag to take it. After some careless play in the FC GOCCAY defense, Lý Lam kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Phạm Thanh. The FC GOCCAY fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Phạm Thanh should have stopped the shot. A hard shot 63 in the game by Lý Lam from a close distance when the talented Phạm Thanh managed to make a qualified save. FC GOCCAY's players were relieved. In the 65th minute, Lê Ho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 67 minutes of play, FC GOCCAY's Nguyễn Nam made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lê Nga was left in no man's land by his defense there! Lý Lam who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 71stth minute tested the skills of Phạm Thanh when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A collision led to Van Don Port getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Đặng Binh hit a great ball. In the 77th minute of the match Nguyễn Thai sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lê Nga skillfully saved the ball. In the 80th minute Nguyễn Nam shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lê Nga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lê Nga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Nam, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Lê Nga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Nam in the 86th minute of play. Đặng Hieu Ngan's late challenge caught a FC GOCCAY's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Đặng Hieu Ngan helped the player get up and apologised. Nguyễn Quang took the ball and in the 91 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lê Nga. Lê Nga dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Nam in the 94th minute of play forced Van Don Port's goalkeeper Lê Nga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The FC GOCCAY fans cheered their team off the field, for while Van Don Port had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
