Đặng Hong Minh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Huynh Duc having to interfere. Gang Thép FC's Nguyễn Huynh Duc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bùi Anh Hung in the 9th minute of play. After 11th play minutes Bùi Anh Hung shot 0-1, a short shot which went by Nguyễn Huynh Duc and just under the crossbar into goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trần Tan in the 18th minute of play forced Kim Lien's goalkeeper Iwan Bronkala to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Gang Thép FC getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Lưu Tong hit a great ball. Nguyễn Huynh Duc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Than, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Đặng Hong Minh managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kim Lien's supporters rose to their feet, but Đặng Hong Minh was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nguyễn Huynh Duc breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 37th minute, Võ Cuc hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bùi Anh Hung in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nguyễn Huynh Duc prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 41 minutes into the match, Gang Thép FC's goal looked a bit too open when Đặng Hong Minh came free, but Nguyễn Huynh Duc reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half Kim Lien were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bùi Anh Hung was the one to do the kick off. Iwan Bronkala showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Trần Tan in the 70th minute of the match. Kim Lien's Iwan Bronkala played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lưu Tong in the 71st minute of play. When Kim Lien's Bùi Anh Hung in the 76th minute got a chance for a shot 76th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Gang Thép FC's goalie prevented a goal. In the 93rd minute of the match Phạm Lan sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nguyễn Huynh Duc skillfully saved the ball. Trần Tan's late challenge caught a Kim Lien's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Trần Tan helped the player get up and apologised. In the 95th match minute, Gang Thép FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Trần Tan to maneuver through the defense. Kim Lien's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
