Trần Cong Vinh recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Ninh Thuan's Hoàng Hoai got a free kick in the 9th minute. When the match had gone on for 11 minutes, Trần Cong Vinh put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Đào Hung. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hoàng Duy to strike the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Nguyễn Teo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Đào Hung made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Trần Cong Vinh sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Ninh Thuan's zone, Trần Cong Vinh stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Đào Hung came out of the goal and Trần Cong Vinh tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
