The supporters of Vinh Yen booed when Ninh Thuan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hoàng Hoai didn't get a good kick on the ball. 6 minutes into the game, Đào Tuyet was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vinh Yen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ninh Thuan the free kick. In the 6th match minute, Vinh Yen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Đào Tuyet to maneuver through the defense. Vinh Yen's Nguyễn Huynh Duc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Teo in the 10th minute of play. In the 13th minute, Nguyễn Teo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ninh Thuan fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. A collision led to Ninh Thuan getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Nguyễn Nam hit a great ball. After having played for 19 minutes, Hoàng Duy managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ninh Thuan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hoàng Duy was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Đào Tuyet managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vinh Yen's supporters rose to their feet, but Đào Tuyet was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Đào Hung breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nguyễn Thi Ngoc's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 23rdth minute, Đào Hung skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Đào Hung took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Đào Tuyet, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Đào Tuyet received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Đào Hung tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Đào Tuyet fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Đào Hung having to interfere. When Đào Tuyet came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Vinh Yen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Đào Tuyet couldn't finish the play. In the 43rd minute, Hoàng Duy got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Đào Hung made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Nguyễn Thi Ngoc sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Ninh Thuan's Phan Teo got a free kick in the 46th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hoàng Duy to make the kick off. A collision led to Vinh Yen getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Lưu Ritchell hit a great ball. Hoàng Duy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lê Hieu Ngan charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lê Hieu Ngan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 60 played minutes Vinh Yen got a freekick which was hit by Lê Hieu Ngan. Nguyễn Teo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Nguyễn Huynh Duc tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lê Thien's late challenge caught a Vinh Yen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lê Thien helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Ninh Thuan's Lê Thien got a free kick in the 80th minute. In the 81st minute, Nguyễn Thi Ngoc got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vinh Yen's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Hoàng Duy 84 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-2. In the 87th match minute, Ninh Thuan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lê Hung to maneuver through the defense. 88 minutes into the game, one of Ninh Thuan:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Ninh Thuan eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
