Nguyễn Huynh Duc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Hoa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Leicester City's Nguyễn Mai got a free kick in the 8th minute. When Đào Tuyet came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Vinh Yen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Đào Tuyet couldn't finish the play. Nguyễn Quang charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nguyễn Quang the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Leicester City's Nguyễn Quang got a free kick in the 11th minute. In the 11th minute Đào Tuyet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lê Duy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nguyễn Hoa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Nguyễn Thi Ngoc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Leicester City getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Trần Xuan hit a great ball. Ngô Tuan Hoang sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 33rd play minute Ngô Tuan Hoang came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Nguyễn Huynh Duc. 1-0. Leicester City's Ngô Tuan Hoang got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nguyễn Thi Ngoc recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 46th minute Nguyễn Hoa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Huynh Duc saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Đào Tuyet stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Nguyễn Hoa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nguyễn Huynh Duc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ngô Tuan Hoang in the 54th minute of the match. Leicester City's Lê Duy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Đào Tuyet in the 58th minute of play. Nguyễn Thi Ngoc could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Lê Duy made a huge save. Ngô Tuan Hoang sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ngô Tuan Hoang might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nguyễn Huynh Duc. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ngô Tuan Hoang ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 79 minutes, Nguyễn Hoa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Leicester City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nguyễn Hoa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nguyễn Huynh Duc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ngô Tuan Hoang, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Leicester City's Lê Duy proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Leicester City from getting a goal against them. If Nguyễn Thi Ngoc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Leicester City fans cheered their team off the field, for while Vinh Yen had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
