Lê Loc hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. In the 36th minute of the match Trần Hong sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Trần Minh skillfully saved the ball. In the 38thth minute of the game Bùi Diem who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Skyblue's Trần Minh was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 41st minute of the game. One of Skyblue:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ba Ria-Vung Tau:s goal. Trần Minh had in the 43rdth minute some difficulties stopping Trần Hong's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 45th minute of the match Trần Hong sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Trần Minh skillfully saved the ball. In the 47th minute Bùi Diem shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Trần Minh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bùi Diem to strike the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Skyblue defense, Trần Hung kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Trần Minh. The Skyblue fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Trần Minh should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Dung in the 78th minute of play forced Ba Ria-Vung Tau's goalkeeper Phan Hong to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Trần Hung could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Trần Minh made a huge save. Trần Teo kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Nguyễn Hong Minh's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Trần Minh read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Skyblue's zone, Lương Mai stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Trần Minh came out of the goal and Lương Mai tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lương Mai hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Phan Hong made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Dung in the 91st minute of play. After having played for 92 minutes, Nguyễn Dung managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Skyblue's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nguyễn Dung was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
