Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Vinah Long's Nguyễn Chuong started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Phạm Phuong fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Bien having to interfere. Phạm Tu hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. 9 minutes into the match, Vinah Long's Nguyễn Chuong sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lê Diem narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nguyễn Chuong in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lê Diem prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nguyễn Huynh Duc hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. 18 minutes into the match, Vinah Long's goal looked a bit too open when Phạm Phuong came free, but Nguyễn Bien reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nguyễn Chuong got free with Lê Diem in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lê Diem took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Chuong, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nguyễn Bien came out of the goal in the 34th minute to try and stop a shot by Hai Phong's Nguyễn Viet. But to his dismay, Nguyễn Viet quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Võ Phuc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 42 minutes of play, Vinah Long's Lê Tuan Hoang made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lê Diem was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Nguyễn Chuong fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vinah Long's protests and gave Nguyễn Chuong a yellow card for diving instead. In the 44th minute, Nguyễn Chuong hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Phạm Tu's late challenge caught a Vinah Long's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Phạm Tu helped the player get up and apologised. Phạm Tu hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Huỳnh Chung received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Lê Diem tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The wind increased when Phạm Phuong made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Hai Phong's Trần Bien got a free kick in the 57th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Lê Tuan Hoang managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vinah Long's supporters rose to their feet, but Lê Tuan Hoang was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lê Diem breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Phạm Phuong received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Nguyễn Bien tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nguyễn Bien showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Phạm Phuong in the 71st minute of the match. In the 72nd minute, Nguyễn Ho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nguyễn Ho hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Võ Phuc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Võ Phuc struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Nguyễn Bien didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hai Phong. After a rather tough play, Vinah Long's Phạm Nam got a free kick in the 87th minute. After having played for 91 minutes, Phạm Phuong managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hai Phong's supporters crossed their fingers, but Phạm Phuong was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vinah Long succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Hai Phong had controlled the match.
