Phùng Tuan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nguyễn Chung read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 15th minute of play. The supporters of Ninh Binh booed when Samba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Trần Hoang didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Ninh Binh's Nguyễn Van Tai Em got a free kick in the 26th minute. Lê Phu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dương Dung kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Nguyễn Diem kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 41stth minute. Though ot was a great shot Ninh Binh's keeper Nguyễn Tan was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. In the 47th minute, Trần Hoang got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Trần Hoang was the one to do the kick off. Nguyễn Tan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Trần Hoang in the 78th minute of the match. Trần Hoang received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Nguyễn Tan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
